About Us

Our team have been providing financial advice to private individuals and corporate clients since 2003.

Makemsons is a family run IFA based in Cowbridge, South Wales. We have been providing financial Advice since 2003 to families and individuals across the UK. We firmly believe in being friendly and approachable, and we will always put the client first.

Over the years we have seen some dramatic changes within the industry and within the structure of our business and have always succeeded in adapting to the ever-changing environment of UK finance.

We do not have a large budget for marketing and instead have grown from referrals from our existing client group. We have not only maintained but expanded our client base through the provision of sound financial advice and quality service levels.

If you would like to take advantage of any of the services we offer, please contact us – a qualified adviser would be pleased to discuss and provide advice on any aspect of financial planning which is of interest to you.

The initial consultation is always completely free of cost and obligation. After that, provided you wish to formally instruct us, our remuneration may be arranged on the basis of a fee, commission or indeed a combination of both.

Philip Makemson

Philip has over 40 years’ experience in the Financial Services sector and has worked as a Financial Adviser since 1997. He is a member of The Personal Finance Society & The Society of Will Writers and is still actively adding new qualifications to his resume.

Philip has a passion for politics and likes to keep up with current affairs. He likes a bit of Bob Dylan, The Beatles, Genesis and many more and he is always looking for music to add to his collection.

Gareth Makemson

Gareth is Philip’s son and has been with the business since 2015. In 2018 he passed his diploma and can also give advice on mortgages and equity release. He is working towards his chartered status and is considering going into will writing like his father.

Gareth enjoys playing his guitar, going to the gym and playing chess in his spare time. He’s a big fan of Rugby (Cardiff Blues & Wales) and the NFL (Los Angeles Rams) and he likes to cook, although he doesn’t claim to be any good!
